Act Like (Good) Men

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13

At One Harbor, we take growing as good men together seriously. We want every man who is part of our church to be captivated by a compelling and Biblical vision for manhood, to know they are wanted and needed and to have brothers to lean on and older men to look up to. We believe that isolated men are dangerous men, or as we say it, “Lone rangers are dead rangers and dangerous rangers.” For that reason, we value getting together in small groups and big groups to have our heads lifted, our hearts stirred, to be trained and equipped, to deepen friendships as we all grow to be more like Jesus, the only perfect man.

What makes a good man?

Too many men, young and old, cannot answer this question.
That’s a massive problem because if you don’t know what you are aiming at, you aren’t likely to hit it!
At One Harbor, we say that a good man does the following five things:

A Good Man Embraces Responsibility
A Good Man Serves and Protects
A Good Man Blesses and Encourages
A Good Man Walks with Other Good Men
A Good Man Follows the Only Perfect Man, Jesus

It’s easy to lose sight of what your destination is. With masculinity, this is further complicated by either a cultural rejection of any form of masculinity, or a denial of the dangers of testosterone gone wrong. When you and I get distracted we drift off course. That’s why all of our gatherings as men focus on some or all of those values. We need to be instructed, reminded, prayed for, encouraged and challenged to continue to grow as good men.

2026 One Harbor Mens Conference

July 24th  6pm - 8:30pm & July 25th 8:30am - 2pm

We are serious about raising up an army of Good men,
Men who know their purpose and have the support they need. The Good Men Conference is a once a year opportunity to gather with hundreds of other men to be strengthened and reminded of what God has called us to as men. We all need encouragement. So many of us men, maybe all of us, are very aware of areas where we are struggling as men or feel we just aren’t the men we need to be. Even if that isn’t true for you right now, it’s definitely true for some of the men in your life. This isn’t a conference to hear all the ways you are screwing up as a man. This is a significant moment to come to have our heads lifted, our hearts stirred and our arms linked together as we continue to become good men together. Please be there and think of the men in your life who need to be there and get them there too.
